What it is for

The area IP-Telefone & Video (IP phones & video) defines the CUCM values with which a new phone is created at a location. These include Device Pool, CUCM location, region and the line values such as partition, CSS, Busy Trigger and No Answer Timer.

Here you also define which phone models and Jabber clients may be created at the location and which Phone Button Template they receive per line count. This determines the maximum number of lines a device can get.

The shared line values of this area also apply to the other Template 2.0 areas.

Prerequisites

  • Template 2.0 is selected as the template model.
  • Permission Update Template Settings (ROLE_APP_UPDATE_TEMPLATE_SETTINGS).
  • For each model, Phone Button Templates with the desired number of line buttons exist in CUCM.
  • Device Pool, CUCM location, region and partition of the location are created in CUCM.

Step by step: Device and line values

  1. Open Templates → IP Phones & Video and select the location under Standorte (locations).
  2. Under Geräteeinstellungen (device settings), enter the Device Description Format. A click on one of the offered variables inserts it.
  3. Select Device Pool, CUCM Standort (CUCM location) and Region. Common Device Settings and Device CSS are optional.
  4. Under Leitungseinstellungen (line settings), enter the Format für alle Leitungs-Namensfelder (format for all line name fields).
  5. Select the Partition. Line CSS and Forwarding CSS are optional.
  6. Enter Busy Trigger and No Answer Timer (Sekunden) (seconds).
  7. Click Einstellungen speichern (save settings).

Step by step: Phone models, phone buttons and number of lines

  1. Scroll to Telefone für … (phones for …) and, under IP-Telefonmodelle (IP phone models), select the models that may be created at the location.
  2. For each model, select the button template for 1 Leitung (1 line). This is required.
  3. Optionally select button templates for 2 to 5 lines, without gaps starting from 1 line.
  4. Check the display max. … Leitungen (max. … lines) on the model.
  5. Click Einstellungen speichern.

Step by step: Permit Jabber clients

  1. Scroll to Softphones für … (softphones for …).
  2. Tick the Jabber device types that may be newly created at the location.
  3. Assign a button template to each permitted client. For Jabber Windows, store one template per line count.
  4. Click Einstellungen speichern.

Fields and options

IP-TelefonmodelleOptional. Without a model, only the permitted Jabber clients are created at this location.
Button templates per model„1 Leitung“ is required, 2 to 5 lines are optional. A phone can receive at most as many lines as there are templates stored without gaps.
Jabber WindowsDesktop-Client (CSF). Up to 8 lines.
Jabber iPhone / Android / TabletCisco Dual Mode (TCT), Cisco Dual Mode (BOT), Tablet-Client (TAB). Exactly one line each.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • The location shows Vollständig (complete). If it shows Konfiguration offen (configuration incomplete), the line „Es fehlt noch:“ (still missing:) names the fields.
  • „Für … Leitungen fehlt ein Button Template. Leitungsszenarien müssen lückenlos ab 1 Leitung gesetzt sein.“ (a button template is missing for … lines; line scenarios must be set without gaps starting from 1 line): Store the missing template or remove the higher one.
  • „Das Button Template für 1 Leitung ist Pflicht.“ (the button template for 1 line is required) or „Das Button Template ist Pflicht, solange dieser Client erlaubt ist.“ (the button template is required as long as this client is permitted): Select a template or untick the client.
  • „Für diesen Standort können keine neuen Jabber-Softphones angelegt werden.“ (no new Jabber softphones can be created for this location): No Jabber type is permitted. This is acceptable if the location only uses desk phones.
  • During device creation "No matching phone models are configured in Template 2.0 for this feature at the selected location.": Add the model under IP-Telefonmodelle.
  • After a test creation, check Device Pool, partition, CSS and button template of the new phone in CUCM.
