EasyUC for Cisco
Creating a Cisco phone
Create the line and the device in the “Create Device” dialog, with or without an end user.
In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Devices → Phones → Create
Images come from the EasyUC lab. Names and example values provide orientation. A different interface language is indicated beside the relevant image.
What it is for
The Create Device dialog creates the line (directory number) and the device in the CUCM in one pass. You can create the phone without a user, assign it to an existing end user, or create the end user in the same operation.
You can order several devices for the same number in one pass: IP phones, analog devices, a virtual device, device profiles and softphones. EasyUC sends each device row to the CUCM separately and shows the status per row. If one row fails, the others are kept, and a second save repeats only what has not been created yet.
In classic mode, the template selected from the package determines which values the device receives (device pool, partition, calling search space, phone button template). In Template 2.0 mode, EasyUC applies the configuration of the location automatically. You do not select a template in that case.
Prerequisites
- The license module
cucmis installed, and the correct CUCM connection is selected. - Role
ROLE_APP_VIEW_PHONE_PAGEfor the Phones page andROLE_APP_CREATE_DEVICEfor the Create button. - For the Create new Enduser option,
ROLE_APP_CREATE_ENDUSERin addition. Without this role the option is missing. - Your EasyUC account has access to the location where the phone is to be placed.
- Classic mode: the location has a package, and the package contains a phone template for the required model.
- Template 2.0: IP phone models are configured for the location in the template settings. Otherwise the dialog reports Template 2.0 is not configured for this location.
- You have the MAC address of the phone. Alternatively, use the Activation Code if the feature is switched on at the CUCM connection and the model supports it.
- If the Check Number Range option is active in Device Creation Settings, the number must lie within a number range of a location.

Check the result and troubleshoot
- Success: all rows show success, the dialog closes, and the phone appears under Devices → Phones and in the Devices card of the user profile.
- The dialog stays open: at least one row shows error. Read the message at the field, correct the value and click Save again. Rows that were already successful are not sent again. Softphones are only created once all IP phone rows are successful.
- This device already exists: the MAC address already exists in the CUCM. The dialog shows the lines and end users of the existing device. It is taken over only if you tick Should EasyUC really use this phone for the current User?. Otherwise the row shows skipped.
- Required-field messages: Please enter phone number, Please select a location, Please select the model, Please enter mac address, Please select an enduser.
- Messages about the number come from the server in English, for example
The phone number: 7517 is occupied in CUCM,is RESERVED,BELONGS to a Route/Translation Patternoris not a part of any defined range. Check the number in the number plan and select a free one. The assignment of phone number … has changed. Select the number again and confirm its current assignment.: the assignment has changed since your confirmation. Select the number again and confirm once more.- User-assigned numbers and shared lines are supported here for IP phones and Jabber.: you confirmed a number that is in use and at the same time ordered an analog device, a virtual device, MS Teams or a device profile. Remove these rows or select a free number.
- Button in the Phones card disabled: the tooltip states the reason, for example Cannot add device as line already has virtual device present or Device profiles can only be created for an existing end user.
- No model selectable in Template 2.0: message No IP phone model is configured in Template 2.0 for this location yet. With the role
ROLE_APP_UPDATE_TEMPLATE_SETTINGS, the link Open Template settings leads to the configuration. - No free number was found according to the location settings: the number range of the location is exhausted or not maintained. Check the location and the number plan.
- Phone created but not registered: creation and registration are separate operations. Check the model, the MAC address and the network connection of the phone. You then set up further lines and buttons via Actions → Phone Buttons Support.
