Fax for users

Assign a fax box to a Cisco user in the profile, create one or withdraw it again.

What it is for

In the profile of a Cisco user you define whether the user is a fax user. On activation the user receives a fax box: a new one or an existing, matching box. It is the same box that also appears in the fax area of the Calling Features. Both places edit the same data.

The assignment is bound to the CUCM connection and to the user in CUCM. Users with the same name in another cluster do not gain access through it. In the end-user portal the user sees the fax inbox of their own, active box.

On deactivation the box, its properties and its messages are kept.

Prerequisites

Licence modules cucm and acd. The section appears only if the module acd is explicitly active. A pure Cisco installation and an installation without module configuration do not show it.
To view: ROLE_APP_ACD_WORKSPACE with ROLE_APP_ACD_FAX and ROLE_APP_LIST_ENDUSER or ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE. Anyone who only has ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE_LIMITED does not see the section.
To change, also ROLE_APP_ACD_FAX_EDIT and ROLE_APP_UPDATE_ENDUSER. Administrators with ROLE_APP_ADMIN, ROLE_OWNER, ROLE_ADMIN or ROLE_SUPER_ADMIN have all rights of the area.
The user exists in the CUCM of the selected connection and is visible to you (location permission).
A free fax number or an existing box with the user ID of the user.

Step by step: Set up a user as a fax user

Switch to the workspace EasyUC Cisco and open the profile of the user.
In the User details, go to the section Fax user (marked Calling Features).
Tick This user is a fax user.
If there are matching boxes, select one of them under Existing fax box or leave New fax box selected. For an existing box the hint This fax box will be assigned to the user when you save. is shown.
Enter the Fax number.
Check First name, Last name, Email, Department and Company.
Under Fax template, select a template or No fax template.
Leave Fax box enabled switched on.
Click Save. The message Fax user settings saved. confirms the operation.

Step by step: Withdraw the fax user again

In the user profile, open the section Fax user.
Remove the tick at This user is a fax user.
Click Save. The fax box and its messages are kept and can still be found under Calling Features → Calls → Fax.

Check the result and narrow down errors

After saving, the section shows the Fax box ID and the counters. The box appears under Calling Features → Calls → Fax with a locked User ID.
The section is missing in the profile: the module acd is not explicitly active, or the permission for the fax area is missing.
You can view fax settings but do not have permission to change them. ROLE_APP_ACD_FAX_EDIT or ROLE_APP_UPDATE_ENDUSER is missing.
A fax number is required to enable this fax user.
Für die Faxnummer … gibt es bereits eine Box. (a box already exists for the fax number …) Select the box under Existing fax box if it belongs to the user, or use a different number.
Der Endbenutzer hat bereits eine andere Fax-Box. (the end user already has a different fax box)
Die Fax-Box gehört nicht zu diesem Benutzer oder ist bereits zugeordnet. (the fax box does not belong to this user or is already assigned)
Eine vorhandene Fax-Box kann nur beim Aktivieren zugeordnet werden. (an existing fax box can only be assigned on activation)
The user does not see a fax inbox in the end-user portal: the box is disabled, the user is no longer a fax user, or the function is switched off on the end-user site of the CUCM connection.
