Enabling translation patterns in EasyUC

Show the Translation Patterns menu, select partitions and control the display in the user profile.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections → Actions → Translation pattern

Purpose

Translation patterns rewrite dialed numbers in the CUCM, for example a speed dial to an extension. EasyUC can manage these patterns under EasyUC Cisco → Translation Patterns. In this dialog you define, per CUCM connection, whether the menu item appears and from which partitions EasyUC shows patterns.

In addition, you can show the translation patterns of an individual user in the user profile. For this, EasyUC builds a search pattern from the phone number of the user: the configured number of digits from the right, preceded by the prefix. With prefix 9 and four digits, +49 30 1234 5678 becomes the pattern 95678. The profile then shows the translation patterns with exactly this pattern from the enabled partitions.

The setting is stored in EasyUC only. Saving changes nothing in the CUCM.

Prerequisites

  • License with the cucm module and the provisioning feature. Without provisioning, the entry is missing from the Actions menu.
  • EasyUC account with the ROLE_APP_ADMIN role. Only administrators see the Administration menu.
  • The CUCM connection has been created and enabled. For a disabled connection, Actions shows only Enable Connection.
  • The partitions exist in the CUCM. The selection list is read from the CUCM of this connection.
  • For the list and for the card in the user profile, the account needs the ROLE_APP_VIEW_TRANS_PATTERN_PAGE role.

Step by step

  1. In the header, select the EasyUC Cisco workspace.
  2. In the menu, open Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections. The Manage CUCM Connections page lists all connections.
  3. In the row of the connection you want, click Actions. The Menu popover opens.
  4. Click Translation Pattern. The Translation pattern dialog opens.
  5. Switch on Enable. The Select Partition(s) field and the Enduser profile page Translation Pattern area appear.
  6. Under Select Partition(s), select all partitions whose translation patterns EasyUC is to display. Multiple selection is possible.
  7. If the user profile is to show the patterns of the user, switch on Enable on Enduser.
  8. Under Prefix digits, enter the digits that precede the extension in the CUCM.
  9. Under Digits used(from right to left), enter how many digits of the phone number are taken from the right.
  10. Click Save (top right or at the bottom of the dialog). The dialog closes and EasyUC shows a success message (“Success”). Cancel closes the dialog without changes.
  11. Open EasyUC Cisco → Translation Patterns and then the profile of a user with a phone number. Check whether the list and the profile card show the expected patterns.

Fields and options

Fields and options
Field / actionMeaning and use
EnableSwitches translation pattern management on for this connection. Default: off. When you switch it off, the dialog clears the partition selection.
Select Partition(s)Multiple selection from the route partitions of the CUCM. EasyUC shows only patterns from these partitions. Without a selection, only patterns without a partition appear.
Enable on EnduserShows the card with the translation patterns of the user in the user profile. Default: off.
Prefix digitsPrefix that EasyUC places in front of the digits taken from the number. Required as soon as Enable on Enduser is switched on.
Digits used(from right to left)Number of digits taken from the right of the phone number. Integer greater than 0. The dialog opens with 0, so enter a value.

Check the result and narrow down errors

  • Success: The Translation Patterns menu item is visible and shows the patterns of the selected partitions. The card with the patterns of the user appears in the user profile.
  • Error message under Digits used(from right to left) (“Enter the number of digits”): The field is empty. EasyUC also refuses to save with 0 or a negative value.
  • Message “This value should not be blank.” under Prefix digits: The prefix is missing.
  • The profile card stays empty: Recalculate the pattern (prefix plus the last digits of the phone number) and compare it with the pattern in the CUCM. Also check whether the partition of the pattern is enabled.
  • The menu item is missing: correct connection active, ROLE_APP_VIEW_TRANS_PATTERN_PAGE role present, reload the page.
