CUCM changes: updating names after user changes
Detect changes to CUCM users and set device and line names again according to the naming scheme.
In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections → Actions → CUCM end-user changes
Purpose
In EasyUC, device and line names are built from the user data, for example from first name, last name and department. If this data changes later in the CUCM, for instance after a marriage or a change of department through LDAP synchronization, the names on the phone and the line are no longer correct.
With this feature, EasyUC brings the names up to date. The background job app:cucm:changes queries the CUCM for changed end users through the AXL change notification (default: every five minutes). On the first run, EasyUC only records the current inventory. A task is created for every user changed after that. The background job run-task processes them (default: every eleven minutes): EasyUC reads the current state of the user from the CUCM and sets the names of the user's phones, device profiles and lines according to the rules under Device Naming and Line Naming.
On request, EasyUC sends an e-mail with the processed users after every run. The tasks are listed under Reporting → Automatisierung & Änderungen → Name Changes Tasks (the menu group Automatisierung & Änderungen, “automation and changes”, has a German label in the interface). This dialog is not the CUCM change log. That is a separate entry in the same menu.
Prerequisites
- License with the
cucmmodule and theprovisioningfeature. Withoutprovisioning, the entry is missing from the Actions menu. - EasyUC account with the

Step by step
Fields and options
| Field / action | Meaning and use |
|---|---|
| Enable | Switches monitoring of the end users on for this connection. Default: off. When you switch it off, EasyUC discards the stored query state. The next time it is switched on, monitoring starts anew without catching up on the time in between. |
| Send Emails | Switch in the header of the area. On: EasyUC sends an e-mail after every processed run. Default: off. If Enable is switched off, EasyUC also switches off e-mail delivery. |
| Add email addresses (type an e-mail address and press enter) | List of recipients. At least one address as soon as delivery is switched on. |
Check the result and narrow down errors
- Success: A task for the changed user appears under Name Changes Tasks. Display name, alerting name and description in the CUCM show the new values.
- Message “Please add at least one e-mail address”: Delivery is switched on, but no recipient has been entered.
- No task is created: Under Background Jobs, check whether
app:cucm:changesis running and wait for the next run. Directly after it is switched on, EasyUC only records the current inventory. - A task ends without success: The user has been deleted in the CUCM in the meantime. The task states the reason in the log.
- No e-mail arrives: Check SMTP delivery. The tasks are processed even without e-mail.
