Number Plan LDAP Link

Assign free numbers in the number plan to an LDAP user and write the number to the directory.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections → Actions → Number plan: LDAP link

What it is for

With this action you connect the number plan of a CUCM connection to an LDAP directory. The number plan then offers the Link LDAP User action for free numbers. There you search for a person in the directory and assign the number to them.

When linking, EasyUC enters the number in the selected phone number attribute of the LDAP user. If there is no CUCM user for the person yet, EasyUC creates one with the mapped LDAP attributes. For an existing local CUCM user, EasyUC updates their phone number via AXL. EasyUC then reserves the number for the user.

The dialog defines only the source, the search attributes and three selectable attribute mappings. The remaining mappings are fixed.

Prerequisites

  • License with provisioning (provisioning). Without it, the entry is missing from the Actions menu.
  • Sign-in as an administrator. In the menu definition, the Administration menu is assigned only to the role ROLE_APP_ADMIN.
  • The CUCM connection is enabled. For a disabled connection, Actions shows only Enable Connection.
  • An LDAP source has been created under Administration → Integrations & Communication → External Sources. The Source field offers only LDAP sources here.
  • The bind account of the source may write the selected phone number attribute, because EasyUC enters the number there.
  • The number plan of the connection is set up.

Step by step

  1. In the header, select the EasyUC Cisco workspace.
  2. In the menu, open Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections. The page is titled Manage CUCM Connections.
  3. In the row of the connection you want, click Actions. The Menu popover opens.
  4. Click Number Plan LDAP Link. The Number plan: LDAP link dialog opens.
  5. Switch on Enable.
  6. In Source, select the LDAP source. Search By and the Standard User Fields To Be Synchronized table then appear.
  7. In Search By, select the attributes by which you want to search for people, for example sAMAccountName, sn and mail.
  8. In the Middle Name row, select the LDAP attribute middleName or initials.
  9. In the Phone Number row, select the LDAP attribute telephoneNumber or ipPhone. EasyUC writes the number to this attribute.
  10. In the Directory URI row, select the LDAP attribute msRTCSIP-primaryuseraddress or mail.
  11. Click Save (top right or at the bottom of the dialog). After a successful save, the dialog closes and the message Success appears. Cancel discards your entries.
  12. Open EasyUC Cisco → Numberplan, click the actions of a free number and select Link LDAP User.

  • Success: in the number plan, the Link LDAP User action appears for free numbers without a line, without a pattern match and without assigned users.
  • You undo an assignment with Unassign LDAP Users from Number.
  • Error “No LDAP Connection found for this numberplan ldap link”: the link is not set up for the active connection or has been switched off again.
  • Error “This number is not available”: the number is no longer free.
  • The number does not appear in the directory: check the write permission of the bind account and the attribute selected under Phone Number.
  • People are not found: the search text must be contained in one of the Search By attributes.
