EasyUC for Cisco

Restoring phones

Recreate phones deleted via EasyUC, including lines and user assignment.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Devices → Restore Phones

What it is for

When a phone is deleted via EasyUC, EasyUC stores the last state of the device in a deletion log: model, name, lines and assigned users. The Restore Phones page lists these devices and recreates them in the CUCM on request.

The restore runs as a background job. EasyUC reads the most recent deletion log of the device and recreates the phone with the old name, the old lines and the old owner. For shared phones, all former users are assigned again.

Phones that were deleted directly in the CUCM are not in this list. For these there is the CUCM backup under Restore Config. A note above the list leads there.

Prerequisites

  • License module cucm and an active CUCM connection.
  • Role ROLE_APP_RESTORE_DEVICE. It includes the permission to read the list of deleted devices.
  • The phone was deleted via EasyUC, individually via Actions → Delete or in bulk in the Device Registrations report.
  • There is no device with the same name in the CUCM.
  • Administrators with a location restriction see and restore only devices of their locations.
  • For the single restore from the log: access to Logs → EasyUC Logs (ROLE_APP_VIEW_LOG_PAGE).

Step by step: restoring several phones

  1. Open EasyUC Cisco → Devices → Restore Phones.
  2. Find the device via Device Name. With Status you filter for deleted, pending or failed entries. Rows per page sets 25, 50 or 100 rows.
  3. In the Status column, check the state and the time of the last processing.
  4. Tick the box in front of every device that is to be restored. Select All marks all rows of the displayed page.
  5. Click Restore Devices.
  6. Confirm the prompt Do you want to restore all selected devices? The restore process will run in the background.
  7. The entries change to Pending Restore. Reload the page after a few minutes. Successfully restored devices disappear from the list.
  8. Open Devices → Phones and check device, lines and registration.

Step by step: restoring one phone from the log

  1. Open EasyUC Cisco → Logs → EasyUC Logs and find the deletion entry of the phone.
  2. Click restore device on the entry. The link appears for devices whose name starts with SEP, BAT or ATA and that have not been restored yet.
  3. In the dialog Do you want to restore this device?, check the displayed values: Enduser, Phone Number (Line …) for each line and Name / MAC Address. The fields show the old state and cannot be changed.
  4. Click Restore. EasyUC creates the device immediately.
  5. The log entry then shows restored.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • Success: the device is listed again under Devices → Phones and is missing from the restore list.
  • Pending Restore is not yet a success. Check under Administration → System & Operations → Background Jobs whether processing is running.
  • An entry disappears without a new device: a device with this name already exists in the CUCM, the deletion log is missing or it has already been restored once.
  • Error: usually the number or an assigned object in the CUCM no longer matches. Check the deletion entry under Logs → EasyUC Logs and try the single restore, which shows field errors directly.
  • Message Device not found at the start: at least one selected device does not belong to your locations. No job is queued in that case.
  • If the phone was deleted in the CUCM, use Restore Config → Phones.
  • The function does not replace a backup of the appliance or of the CUCM.
