Outbound calls: fax test

Call numbers automatically and determine whether a fax machine answers.

What it is for

Outbound Calls contains applications with which EasyUC itself places calls. Version 4.8.7 has one application type: the Fax Test. It calls every number in a list and determines whether a fax machine answers. This helps with migrations when it is unclear which analog lines still have fax machines behind them.

EasyUC sets up the call from a CTI port of the selected Call Control Group and, after the call is answered, listens for the typical fax tones (CED and ANSam at 2100 Hz, V.21, CNG at 1100 Hz). If a person or a mailbox answers instead of a fax machine, EasyUC plays a short announcement and hangs up.

Each application has its runs. A run is a list of numbers with a result per number and can be exported as PDF or Excel.

Prerequisites

  • Licence modules cucm and acd.
  • Permission: ROLE_APP_ACD_WORKSPACE and ROLE_APP_ACD_OUTBOUND to view, additionally ROLE_APP_ACD_OUTBOUND_EDIT to change. Administrators with ROLE_APP_ADMIN, ROLE_OWNER, ROLE_ADMIN or ROLE_SUPER_ADMIN have all rights of the area.
  • A Call Control Group with CTI ports registered at the media server. Its line CSS must be allowed to reach the tested numbers.
  • For the number source analog gateways: MGCP or SCCP gateways with ports in CUCM.
  • Inform the affected departments before a run.

Step by step: Create an application

  1. Open Calling Features → Calls → Outbound Calls.
  2. Click Add Application.
  3. Leave Fax Test selected under Application type.
  4. Enter the Name, for example Fax-Prüfung Zentrale.
  5. Select the Call Control Group.
  6. Click Create. The application opens.
  7. Under Settings, set Parallel calls, Ring timeout and Listen.
  8. Under Announcement for humans, select Text-to-speech and enter the text, or select Sound file and upload a file. Use Preview to listen to the announcement.
  9. Click Save.

Step by step: Start and evaluate a run

  1. In the application, click New run and assign a Name.
  2. Under Which numbers should be tested?, select the source: Number range, Analog gateways or CSV file.
  3. For the number range enter From and To, for analog gateways tick the gateways, or select the CSV file.
  4. Under When should it start?, select Immediately or Scheduled with Start at.
  5. Click Start run or Schedule run.
  6. Open the run in the list. The page shows progress, key figures and, under Calling now, the calls in progress.
  7. Filter the list through Show, for example to Fax.
  8. Click PDF or Excel to export the report.
  9. Use Cancel run to stop a running, waiting or scheduled run.

Check the result and narrow down errors

  • The run reaches 100 %, and every number has a result.
  • Waiting for the media server to pick up the run. It checks every few seconds; the Call Control Group ports must be registered. Check the registration of the ports under Call Control Groups.
  • No Call Control Group yet. Create one first.
  • Der Anwendung fehlt eine Call Control Group. ("The application has no Call Control Group.")
  • Keine Rufnummern für diesen Durchgang. ("No numbers for this run.") The source does not supply any number.
  • Höchstens 5000 Rufnummern je Durchgang. ("At most 5000 numbers per run.") or Nummernbereich zu groß (höchstens 5000 Nummern). ("Number range too large (at most 5000 numbers).")
  • Nummernbereich: Von und Bis müssen gleich lang sein (höchstens 15 Stellen). ("Number range: From and To must have the same length (at most 15 digits).")
  • Der Startzeitpunkt liegt in der Vergangenheit. ("The start time is in the past.")
  • Ein Durchgang läuft noch. Bitte zuerst abbrechen. ("A run is still in progress. Cancel it first.") Appears when you change or delete during a run.
  • No analog gateways (MGCP/SCCP) found in this cluster.
  • Many numbers with Errors or Busy: the line CSS of the Call Control Group does not reach the numbers.
  • An announcement or mailbox counts as No fax. The test only detects devices that answer with a fax tone.
