Directory URI for lines

Build the directory URI from the e-mail address or from a user field and domain and write it to new lines.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections → Actions → Directory URI

Purpose

A directory URI is an address in the form name@domain under which a subscriber can be reached in addition to the number, for example for URI dialing from Jabber or Webex or between clusters over ILS. In the CUCM it is stored on the line.

If the feature is switched on, EasyUC enters the URI when it creates a line for a user. The URI is either the e-mail address of the user or a user field (%userId% or %lastName%) plus a fixed domain. EasyUC creates the URI as the primary URI in the partition of the line and marks it for advertising over ILS. If the same URI already exists in the CUCM, EasyUC does not create it again.

Saving itself changes nothing in the CUCM. Existing lines do not receive a URI afterwards.

Prerequisites

  • License with the cucm module and the provisioning feature. Without provisioning, the entry is missing from the Actions menu.
  • EasyUC account with the ROLE_APP_ADMIN role. Only administrators see the Administration menu.
  • The CUCM connection has been created and enabled. For a disabled connection, Actions shows only Enable Connection.
  • For the variant with the e-mail address, the mail ID of the user is maintained in the CUCM. Without a mail ID, no URI is created.
  • The domain is coordinated with the routing in the CUCM (SIP route patterns, ILS).

Step by step

  1. In the header, select the EasyUC Cisco workspace.
  2. In the menu, open Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections. The Manage CUCM Connections page lists all connections.
  3. In the row of the connection you want, click Actions. The Menu popover opens.
  4. Click Directory URI. The Directory URI dialog opens.
  5. Switch on Enable. The other fields appear.
  6. Under Select How the URI must look, select one of the two variants: Enduser E-Mail as directory URI or Custom Enduser field as directory URI.
  7. Second variant only: Under Enduser Field, select either %userId% or %lastName%.
  8. Second variant only: Under Domain, enter the domain without @, for example firma.example.
  9. Check the preview in the URI: line at the end of the dialog. It shows %email% or field@domain.
  10. Click Save (top right or at the bottom of the dialog). The dialog closes and EasyUC shows a success message (“Success”). Cancel closes the dialog without changes.
  11. Create a phone with a new line for a test user and check the Directory URIs section on the line in the CUCM.

Fields and options

Field / actionMeaning and use
EnableSwitches the assignment of directory URIs on for this connection. Default: off.
Select How the URI must lookEnduser E-Mail as directory URI (default): the mail ID of the user becomes the URI unchanged. Custom Enduser field as directory URI: user field plus domain.
Enduser Field%userId% or %lastName%. Only active with the user field variant, then required. EasyUC removes all characters from the value except the letters A–Z, digits, period, hyphen, underscore and tilde.
DomainDomain part of the URI. Only active with the user field variant, then required.
URI:Preview of the scheme. Not an input field.

Check the result and narrow down errors

  • Success: In the Manage CUCM Connections list, the Dir URI column shows the status. A newly created line carries the expected URI in the CUCM.
  • Message “This value should not be blank.” under Enduser Field or Domain: With the user field variant, both fields are required.
  • The line has no URI: The user has no mail ID, the URI already exists on another line in the CUCM, or the line existed before the feature was switched on.
  • The URI looks different from the last name: Umlauts and spaces are removed or transliterated. Identical last names result in the same URI. In that case, use %userId%.
