Administration
Setting the interface language
Where administrators and end users choose the language of their interface and what is stored in the process.
In EasyUC: Header → flag icon
What it is for
Every user chooses the language of their interface themselves. The administration interface comes in German and English, the end-user portal in German, English and Spanish. The interface offers no central default for all users.
The choice is stored with the account. It therefore also applies after the next sign-in and on another computer. It affects only the labels of the interface, not the language of the phones or of the CUCM users.
Texts for which no translation exists are shown in English. Individual menu entries and field names can therefore be in English even in the German interface.
Prerequisites
- A signed-in account. The language can be changed only after sign-in.
- In the administration, for accounts with individual permissions: the permission Change language. It is part of the basic access and is granted automatically.
Step by step: changing the language in the administration
Step by step: changing the language in the end-user portal
Step by step: maintaining the language of the e-mail notifications
Fields and options
| Field / action | Meaning and use |
|---|---|
| Flag icon (administration) | Shows the current language. Selection: English, German. |
| Flag icon (end-user portal) | Selection: English, German, Spanish. |
| Storage location | The language is stored per user on the server and additionally kept in the browser. |
| Design | The palette icon next to the flag changes the design, not the language. |
| Language templates of the e-mails | Every e-mail template has separate texts for English, German and Spanish. |
Checking the result and narrowing down errors
- Success: menu, buttons and messages appear in the selected language, also after signing out and in again.
- Individual texts remain in English: there is no translation for these texts. This is not a configuration error.
- The sign-in page appears in a different language than expected: before sign-in, the interface knows only the language last used in this browser. Without a stored choice it is English.
- Spanish is missing from the selection in the administration: Spanish is not offered there.
- You do not set the language of the phone displays and voicemail greetings here, but through the user and device templates in the CUCM.
