CUCM connection options

Publicly Accessible Phonebook

Provide the phonebook of a connection read-only at its own address, with or without sign-in.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections → Actions → Public phonebook

What it is for

With this action, EasyUC provides the phonebook of a CUCM connection as a simple web page. The page shows the entries read-only, with paging and search. You do not need an EasyUC account for it. This is intended for reception, a control room or devices that are only meant to look things up.

The address contains the ID of the connection and a freely selectable key (slug): https://<EasyUC-Server>/phonebook/public/<ID>/<Slug>. The dialog displays the finished address. Optionally, the page requires a sign-in with a shared user name and password.

The setting is stored in EasyUC. Nothing happens in the CUCM. If you switch the function off, EasyUC resets the authentication mode and removes the stored credentials.

Prerequisites

  • Sign-in as an administrator. In the menu definition, the Administration menu is assigned only to the role ROLE_APP_ADMIN.
  • The CUCM connection is enabled. For a disabled connection, Actions shows only Enable Connection.
  • This entry appears in the Actions menu even without a provisioning license.
  • Phonebooks with entries for this connection are maintained under Administration → Integrations & Communication → Phonebooks.
  • You have clarified which entries may be readable through the address and from which networks the server can be reached.

Step by step

  1. In the header, select the EasyUC Cisco workspace.
  2. In the menu, open Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections. The page is titled Manage CUCM Connections.
  3. In the row of the connection you want, click Actions. The Menu popover opens.
  4. Click Publicly Accessible Phonebook. The Publicly Accessible Phonebook dialog opens.
  5. Switch on Enable. The remaining fields appear.
  6. In Select Authentication Mode, select either “No Authentication” or “Password Authentication”.
  7. For “Password Authentication”, enter the Username and Password for the shared access.
  8. Next to Slug, click Generate. EasyUC enters a random key of ten characters. You can also type in a value of your own.
  9. Copy the address displayed below the field (URL: …).
  10. Click Save (top right or at the bottom of the dialog). After a successful save, the dialog closes and the message Success appears. Cancel discards your entries.
  11. Open the address in a browser window without an EasyUC sign-in and check the sign-in, the search and the entries displayed.

PasswordOnly for “Password Authentication”. Required. If you switch back to “No Authentication”, EasyUC removes the credentials.
SlugKey at the end of the address. Required when the function is enabled. Generate creates a random value of ten characters made up of digits and lower-case letters.

Checking the result and narrowing down errors

  • Success: the address shows the phonebook list. With “Password Authentication”, the sign-in page appears first.
  • Field error “This value should not be blank.”: Slug, the authentication mode or the credentials are missing.
  • The page reports “CUCM Connection not found”: the connection ID or the slug in the address is incorrect. A changed slug makes the old address invalid immediately.
  • The sign-in page reports “Public Phonebook not enabled”: the function is switched off for the connection.
  • Access denied: the connection is disabled or the public phonebook is off.
  • A sign-in is valid only for the connection on which it took place.
  • A slug that is hard to guess does not replace a password. If the server can be reached from external networks, use “Password Authentication”.
