CUCM connection options

Voicemail Device Notification HTML

Default for the HTML notification of new Unity Connection mailboxes: template, events, recipient.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections → Actions → Voicemail notification (HTML)

What it is for

In addition to the simple SMTP notification, Cisco Unity Connection has an HTML notification device. It sends e-mails based on an HTML template, for example for new voice messages or for missed calls. With this action you define how EasyUC configures this device when it creates a mailbox.

If the function is active, EasyUC enables the user's HTML device after creating the mailbox and transfers the recipient address, event list, outdial number and HTML template. If changing the outdial number or the template is already locked on the device in Unity Connection, EasyUC leaves the respective value unchanged.

The default applies to mailboxes that EasyUC creates afterwards. Existing mailboxes remain unchanged.

Prerequisites

  • License with provisioning (provisioning). Without it, the entry is missing from the Actions menu.
  • Sign-in as an administrator. In the menu definition, the Administration menu is assigned only to the role ROLE_APP_ADMIN.
  • The CUCM connection is enabled. For a disabled connection, Actions shows only Enable Connection.
  • The connection has a voicemail integration with Cisco Unity Connection.
  • At least one HTML notification template exists in Unity Connection. EasyUC reads the templates from there.

Step by step

  1. In the header, select the EasyUC Cisco workspace.
  2. In the menu, open Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections. The page is titled Manage CUCM Connections.
  3. In the row of the connection you want, click Actions. The Menu popover opens.
  4. Click Voicemail Device Notification HTML. The Update Voicemail Device Notification Html dialog opens.
  5. Switch on Enable. The remaining fields appear.
  6. In Html Template, select the template from Unity Connection. The form then sets the events accordingly.
  7. Check the Event Type table: for a missed-call template, Missed Calls is fixed. For all other templates, All Voice Messages is set and you can select Urgent Only.
  8. In To, enter the recipient address. The default {{email}} uses the user's e-mail address.
  9. In Outdial Number or URI, enter the number or URI used for the callback to listen to the message, for example {{primaryExtension}}.
  10. Set the three switches at the end as required.
  11. Click Save (top right or at the bottom of the dialog). After a successful save, the dialog closes and the message Success appears. Cancel discards your entries.
  12. Create a mailbox for a test user and check its HTML notification device in Unity Connection.

Checking the result and narrowing down errors

  • Success: for a newly created mailbox, the HTML notification device is active and carries the recipient, events and template.
  • Field error for To or Html Template: both fields are required when the function is enabled.
  • The template list is empty: EasyUC cannot reach Unity Connection, or there is no notification template there.
  • Events cannot be changed: the selected template determines the permitted events. Select a different template.
  • Outdial number or template was not set: the change is locked on the device in Unity Connection. EasyUC then leaves the value as it is.
  • Attachments transfer message content into the mail system. Clarify beforehand whether this is permissible for the recipients.
