Transfer templates to other locations

Copy single templates or supply many locations at once with the Template Copy Center.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Templates → Phones → Template Copy Center

What it is for

In the proven template model, every location needs its own templates because device pool, CUCM location and calling search spaces differ. Instead of setting up a reference phone for every location, you copy a finished template and overwrite only the location-dependent values.

Copy transfers a single template. The Template Copy Center transfers several templates to several locations, optionally with a CSV file. With Template 2.0 this step is not needed because the values are maintained per location.

Prerequisites

  • The Bewährtes Template-Modell (proven template model) is active.
  • Permission Copy Templates (ROLE_APP_COPY_TEMPLATE).
  • Finished phone or video templates at the source location.
  • Target locations with packages, and the CUCM values that are valid there.

Step by step: Copy a single template

  1. Open Templates → Phones.
  2. On the template, select Actions → Copy.
  3. Select the location for which the copy is to be created.
  4. Enter the Name of the new template and select the Packages.
  5. Click Save.

Step by step: Template Copy Center

  1. Open Templates → Phones or Video Devices and click Template Copy Center.
  2. Under Location from which EasyUC should copy Templates, select the source location and the Templates.
  3. Under Locations to which EasyUC should copy Templates, select the target locations.
  4. Select the Packages for each target location.
  5. For each target location, tick the values that are to be overwritten and select the new value.
  6. Click Save and check the status per target location. In case of an error, select retry or skip.

Step by step: Target locations from CSV

  1. In the copy center, click Example CSV and fill in the file.
  2. Keep to the column order that the dialog shows under "The CSV column order must be".
  3. Click Import CSV, select the file and check the imported target locations.
  4. Click Save.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • The copied templates appear in the list with the target location.
  • On a copied template, check the overwritten values using Actions → Show Settings.
  • Values that are not ticked stay as in the source template. Check whether that is correct at the target location.
  • A copied template is not yet a provisioned phone. Create a test device as a check.
