EasyUC for Cisco

User overview in card view

Search and filter CUCM users as cards and create softphones for several users.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Users → Users

Images come from the EasyUC lab. Names and example values provide orientation. A different interface language is indicated beside the relevant image.

What it is for

The Enduser page shows all users of the active CUCM connection as cards. Each card summarises master data, location, phone number and all devices that the user controls in the CUCM. A click on the card opens the user profile.

The view replaces the former table. You see at a glance who has a desk phone, a softphone or a device profile and who is currently logged in to a phone via Extension Mobility. Users from the last user scan carry the NEW badge.

With the checkboxes on the cards you set up a softphone client for several users in one run or delete it again. EasyUC creates one device of the selected type per user in the CUCM (CSF, TCT, BOT or TAB) and uses the user's phone number as a shared line.

Prerequisites

  • The licence module cucm is installed. Without the module the page is locked.
  • Role ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PAGE for the menu item. With ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE_LIMITED you also see the menu item and open the basic profile.
  • To open the full profile: ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE. Without this role and without the basic profile, a click on the card has no effect.
  • For the Create button: ROLE_APP_CREATE_ENDUSER.
  • For setting up softphones via multiple selection: the user has an EasyUC location and a phone number, and at least one package is assigned to the location.
  • The NEW badge requires that the user scan of the connection is running (see the chapter on new and deleted users).

Step by step: find a user and open the profile

  1. Select the required CUCM connection in the header.
  2. Open EasyUC Cisco → Users → Users. The page is called Enduser and shows the total number next to the title.
  3. Enter part of the first name, last name or user ID in the Enduser field. The list reloads about 0.3 seconds after the last keystroke and jumps to page 1.
  4. If required, restrict the list to one location with Location.
  5. Under Show users with, click one or more device types: Desktop, iPhone, Android, Tablet, Device Profile. The note All selected filters must match applies. Reset clears the device filters.
  6. Under Users per row, set 1 to 4 cards per row, and under Users per page 12, 24, 48 or 96 cards. The browser remembers both values.
  7. Use the arrows at the bottom of the page to move between pages. The display Page x / y shows the current page.
  8. Click a card to open the user profile. With the keyboard, Enter or the space bar on the focused card is sufficient.

Step by step: set up or delete a softphone for several users

  1. Filter the list so that the required users are visible.
  2. Click the checkbox at the top left of each card. Select visible marks all cards on the current page, Deselect visible removes the marks.
  3. Check the display n selected in the bar above the cards. The selection is kept when you move between pages.
  4. Open Create client and select the type: Jabber / Webex Desktop, Jabber iPhone, Jabber Android or Jabber Tablet.
  5. Wait for the message. Aktion abgeschlossen (action completed) states the number of successful and skipped users. Users who already have the client are skipped.
  6. To remove a client, open Delete client and select Desktop client, Jabber iPhone, Jabber Android or Jabber Tablet. EasyUC deletes the matching device of the selected users in the CUCM.
  7. After a successful run EasyUC clears the selection and reloads the list. Check the device tiles on the cards.

Step by step: create a user from the overview

  1. Click Create at the top right.
  2. Fill in the Create Enduser dialog. The fields are described in the chapter on creating and editing CUCM users.
  3. Save with Save or with Save and Add Device. In the second case EasyUC opens the profile of the new user and the dialog for creating a phone.

Softphone iconJabber or Webex App. The softphone client configured at the user's location is decisive. Without a location EasyUC shows Jabber. The tooltip states client, device name and description.
+nOverflow tile if there are more devices than fit on the card (12, 8, 6 or 5 tiles depending on the cards per row). The tooltip lists the remaining device names.
Signed in at phoneThe user is logged in to a phone via Extension Mobility. The tooltip states the phone names.
Create client / Delete clientBulk action for the selected cards. 1 to 100 users are permitted per call.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • You recognise success by the new softphone tile on the card and by the message Aktion abgeschlossen with the number of successful and skipped users.
  • Teilweise ausgeführt (partially executed) or Aktion fehlgeschlagen (action failed): the message states the numbers and the reason for the first error. If the run fails completely, the selection is kept.
  • Client already exists: the user already has this client. The user is skipped.
  • No matching client found: when deleting, no device of this type was found. The user is skipped.
  • Location or primary phone number is missing.: the user has no location or no phone number. Assign both in the profile.
  • No package is assigned to this location.: assign a package to the location. EasyUC uses the default package of the location, otherwise the first assigned package.
  • Select between 1 and 100 users.: more than 100 users are selected. Split the run.
  • User was not found in the active CUCM cluster.: the selection comes from another connection, or the user has been deleted in the meantime. Reload the page.
  • If a card shows only general tiles such as Phone or PC without a model, the server did not deliver a device list. The tiles then come from the summary flags of the user.
  • If a phone is missing on the card although it carries a number of the user, it is not assigned to the user as a controlled device. Check this in the profile under Phones & Phone numbers.
  • No data to display: check search term, location and device filters together.
