Templates in the proven template model

Create templates from CUCM reference objects, assign them to packages and keep them up to date.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Templates → Phones / Users / …

What it is for

In the proven template model, a template is the stored configuration of an existing CUCM object. For example, you set up a phone correctly in the CUCM once and create a template from it. Every new phone of this model then takes over device pool, CSS, button layout and line values.

There are separate lists for phones, video devices, device profiles, analog ports, CTI route points, remote destination profiles, mobile identity, users, pickup groups, hunt groups and translation patterns. These lists appear in the menu only as long as Template 2.0 is not selected.

Prerequisites

  • Licence module cucm. Under Templates → Settings, the Bewährtes Template-Modell (proven template model) is selected.
  • Permissions List Templates, Create Templates (ROLE_APP_CREATE_TEMPLATE), Update Templates and Copy Templates, depending on the task.
  • A suitably configured reference object in the CUCM, for example a phone of the required model.
  • A location and a package to which the template is assigned.

Step by step: Create a template

  1. In the Templates menu, open the object type, for example Phones. The page is called Manage Phone Templates.
  2. Click Create NEW Phone Template. EasyUC shows the existing objects of this type.
  3. On the reference object, click Create Template.
  4. In the Create new Template dialog, select the Location and then the Packages.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Check the template in the list with name, model, location, packages and creation date.

Step by step: View and change a template

  1. On the template, select Actions → Show Settings to read the stored values.
  2. Select Actions → Edit Packages to change the package assignment.
  3. Select Actions → Update Template to change device and line values. Enter the values and click Save.

Step by step: Migrate templates after a CUCM upgrade

  1. In a template list, click Out Of Version Templates. The dialog shows the current AXL version and the affected templates.
  2. Mark the templates and start the update.
  3. If the original object no longer exists, click select and choose another object of the same type. Use skip and retry to handle individual templates.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • The template appears in the list and is offered when creating devices as soon as location, package and model match.
  • If a template is missing in the creation form, check the location and the package assignment of the template.
  • Update Template and Copy are available only for phone and video templates.
  • "Original Phone is not there anymore, please select another phone from this type to make us able to migrate the template": select a replacement object.
  • A changed template does not change existing devices. It applies to newly created objects.
