EasyUC for Cisco

Single Number Reach and Remote Destination

Let calls to the office number also ring on the mobile phone, with timers and a ring schedule.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Users → Users → User profile → Single Number Reach → Create → Remote Destination

Images come from the EasyUC lab. Names and example values provide orientation. A different interface language is indicated beside the relevant image.

What it is for

With Single Number Reach, a call to the office number also rings at a second destination, usually the mobile phone. The user can answer the call on either device. In CUCM this involves two objects: a Remote Destination Profile, which carries the lines of the user, and the Remote Destination with the destination number.

EasyUC creates both objects in one step from the user profile. You enter the mobile number, select location and lines and set three timers. The timers control when the mobile phone starts to ring and when CUCM stops the parallel ringing so that no mobile voicemail answers the call.

With the ring schedule you limit the parallel ringing to certain weekdays and times. Where the device pool, CSS and names of the profile come from depends on the template approach: from a template of type Remote Destination Profile or from the Remote Destination & Mobility section of Template 2.0.

Prerequisites

  • License module cucm and an active CUCM connection.
  • Role ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE_RD for the Single Number Reach tab.
  • Role ROLE_APP_CREATE_RD for Create, ROLE_APP_UPDATE_RD for timers and schedule, ROLE_APP_DELETE_RD for Delete.
  • The user has at least one line that is to ring in parallel.
  • Proven template model: A template exists for location and package under Templates → Remote Destination Profile.
  • Template 2.0: Under Templates → Remote Destination & Mobility, the section for the location is set to Active. This page requires ROLE_APP_UPDATE_TEMPLATE_SETTINGS.

Step by step: Create a Remote Destination

  1. Open EasyUC Cisco → Users → Users and then the profile of the user.
  2. Switch to the Single Number Reach tab.
  3. If the card shows only Load data, click it. Automatic loading is then switched off at the CUCM connection.
  4. Click Create at the top right of the card and select Remote Destination.
  5. In the Create Remote Destination dialog, check the Mobile Number field. EasyUC prefills it with the mobile number of the user. Enter the number in the form in which CUCM can dial it.
  6. Select the Location and then the Package.
  7. Select the Template. With Template 2.0 this selection is omitted. The dialog instead shows the note that the configuration of the location is applied automatically.
  8. Under Directory Numbers, select one or more lines of the user.
  9. Set Delay Before Ring, Answer to Soon Timer and Answer to Late Timer or keep the defaults.
  10. In the Ring Schedule section, leave All The Time ticked or define weekdays and times.
  11. Click Save. The card then shows an entry Remote Destination Profile with destination, profile name and lines.

Step by step: Timers, schedule and deletion

  1. In the profile, open the Single Number Reach tab.
  2. Click the menu with the three dots at the entry.
  3. Select Update Timers, change the three values and click Save.
  4. Select Update Schedule. Untick All The Time, select the Timezone and tick the weekdays.
  5. For each day, set All Day or enter Start Time and End Time. Click Save.
  6. Select Delete and confirm the prompt to remove the Remote Destination.

Step by step: Maintain defaults in Template 2.0

  1. Open EasyUC Cisco → Templates → Remote Destination & Mobility. The menu item appears only when the model Template 2.0 is selected under Templates → Settings.
  2. Select the location in the Locations section.
  3. Set the switch of the Remote Destination & Mobility card to Active.
  4. Enter Name format and Description format. Variables such as {{userId}}, {{phoneNumber}}, {{firstName}} and {{location}} are allowed.
  5. If required, select Calling Search Space and Rerouting Calling Search Space. Without a selection, the default of the location applies.
  6. Enter No Answer Timer (seconds).
  7. Click Save settings.

Directory NumbersLines of the user that are assigned to the profile. Multiple selection, mandatory field.

Answer to Late TimerMaximum time for which the destination rings in parallel. Default 19.0. With Template 2.0, EasyUC takes the No Answer Timer of the location if it is between 10 and 300 seconds.
Ring ScheduleAll The Time or, per weekday, All Day or Start Time to End Time, plus the Timezone.
Name format / Description formatTemplate 2.0: Rule for building the name and the description of the profile.

Rerouting Calling Search SpaceTemplate 2.0: CSS through which CUCM dials the mobile number. Optional.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • Success: The tab shows an entry with the abbreviation RDP, the Destination, the name of the profile and the Lines. A test call to the office number also rings on the mobile phone after the configured delay.
  • Save stays gray: Mobile Number, Location or Directory Numbers is missing.
  • “This feature is not configured or is disabled in Template 2.0 for the selected location. Please check the location configuration.” Set the Remote Destination & Mobility section for the location to Active.
  • The Template field stays empty: There is no template of type Remote Destination Profile for location and package. Create it under Templates → Remote Destination Profile with Create NEW Remote Destination Template.
  • The mobile phone does not ring: Check in CUCM whether the rerouting CSS reaches the mobile number and whether the schedule covers the current time.
  • The mobile voicemail answers calls: Increase the Answer to Soon Timer or lower the Answer to Late Timer below the ring time of the mobile voicemail.
  • Messages from CUCM appear in the dialog at the affected field, for example for a destination number that already exists as a Remote Destination.
