Template 2.0: choose and activate the template model

Switch between reference device templates and central location values.

What it is for

EasyUC has two methods for creating new users, devices and groups with the correct CUCM values. In the proven template model, you copy the values from a suitably configured reference device in CUCM. With Template 2.0, you define device and line settings per EasyUC location completely in EasyUC, without a reference phone.

The selection applies to the creation of new users, devices and groups. Existing templates and devices remain unchanged. Switching also changes the Templates menu: instead of the lists per object type, the Template 2.0 areas appear.

With Template 2.0, the template selection is omitted in the creation forms. They show the note "Template 2.0 – this location’s configuration is applied automatically."

Prerequisites

Licence module cucm.
Permission Update Template Settings (ROLE_APP_UPDATE_TEMPLATE_SETTINGS). Without this permission the menu item Settings is missing.
At least one location under Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → Locations.
The objects required in CUCM exist: Device Pools, CUCM locations, regions, partitions, Calling Search Spaces and Phone Button Templates.

Step by step: Activate Template 2.0

Open Templates → Settings. The page is called Template-Einstellungen (template settings).
Under Template-Modell (template model), select the card Template 2.0. The card Bewährtes Template-Modell (proven template model) carries the badge Standard.
Under Template-2.0-Bereiche (Template 2.0 areas), select the area IP-Telefone & Video (IP phones & video).

Under Standorte (locations), select the first location and fill in all required fields. The display changes from Konfiguration offen (configuration incomplete) to Vollständig (complete).
Repeat this for every location. Template 2.0 can only be saved once every location is complete.
In the other areas, enable the template types that the location should offer.
Click Einstellungen speichern (save settings).
Create a test phone at one of the locations and check the generated values in CUCM.

Distinguish base, package and actual creation

A new package configuration copies the current base once and is then maintained independently. Without a separate package block, the location base is used. Saving checks required values and CUCM references. It saves the EasyUC configuration; it does not change existing CUCM devices or create new devices.

Choose the area and location. A package must be assigned to this location in package management before configuring it.
Enable the required areas and complete mandatory values for all locations of the active connection.
Save the settings. Choose the matching location and, where applicable, package when creating an object later.

Step by step: Back to the proven model

Open Templates → Settings.
Select the card Bewährtes Template-Modell.
Click Einstellungen speichern. All existing templates, wizards and provisioning workflows work as before.

Check the result and troubleshoot

After saving, „Die Template-Einstellungen wurden gespeichert.“ (the template settings were saved) appears and the Templates menu shows the Template 2.0 areas.
„Template 2.0 benötigt mindestens einen konfigurierten EasyUC-Standort.“ (Template 2.0 requires at least one configured EasyUC location): Create a location first.
„Template 2.0 lässt sich erst speichern, wenn jeder Standort vollständig ist. Es fehlt noch:“ (Template 2.0 can only be saved once every location is complete. Still missing:) The list below names the missing fields per location.
„Die Template-Einstellungen konnten nicht geladen werden.“ (the template settings could not be loaded) or „… nicht gespeichert werden.“ (… could not be saved): Check the CUCM connection and reload the page.
In the creation form "This feature is not configured or is disabled in Template 2.0 for the selected location. Please check the location configuration.": The template type is not active at the location.
