CUCM connection options
Contact search from an external source
Connect an external source in which EasyUC searches for contacts when speed dials are assigned.
In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections → Actions → Contact search
What it is for
When assigning the buttons of a phone, you can take a destination number from a directory instead of typing it. With this action you link an external source (for example an LDAP directory) to the CUCM connection for this purpose and define what is searched and which fields supply the numbers.
EasyUC stores the mapping on the connection. If it exists, the dialog for the button assignment of a phone shows a search field for contacts. The search queries the source directly and checks whether the search text is contained in one of the search attributes. The setting changes nothing in the CUCM or in the source. If you switch off Enable and save, EasyUC deletes the mapping.
Prerequisites
- License with provisioning (
provisioning). Without it, the entry is missing from the Actions menu. - Sign-in as an administrator. In the menu definition, the Administration menu is assigned only to the role
ROLE_APP_ADMIN. - The CUCM connection is enabled. For a disabled connection, Actions shows only Enable Connection.
- A source has been created under Administration → Integrations & Communication → External Sources and can be reached. Alternatively, you create it directly from the Source field.
- You know the attribute names of the source for name, phone number and mobile number.
Step by step
Fields and options
| Field / action | Meaning and use |
|---|---|
| Enable | Switches on the contact search for this connection. Default: off. Switching it off and saving removes the mapping. |
| Source | External source that is searched. Required. One source per connection. |
| Search By | One or more attributes of the source that must contain the search text. Required. The German interface shows this label in English as well. |
| How the label will be formed | One or more attributes whose values form the display of a hit. Required. The German interface shows this label in English as well. |
| Phone Number | Attribute that supplies the contact's phone number. Required. |
| Mobile Number | Attribute that supplies the contact's mobile number. Required. |
Checking the result and narrowing down errors
- Success: in the list of external sources, the source carries the contact search badge, and the contact search appears in the button assignment of a phone.
- Field error “This value should not be blank.”: with the contact search switched on, all five fields are required.
- The search returns nothing: check whether the search text occurs in one of the Search By attributes and whether the source can be reached under External Sources.
- Hits without a number: the attribute selected under Phone Number or Mobile Number is empty for the contact or mapped incorrectly.
- The search field is still missing: reload the page. The interface reads the mapping together with the connection data.
