EasyUC for Cisco

Call forwarding in the user profile

View and change the forwarding settings of a number: all calls, busy, no answer, unregistered, schedule.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Users → Users → User profile → Phones & Phone numbers → Call forwarding

Images come from the EasyUC lab. Names and example values provide orientation. A different interface language is indicated beside the relevant image.

What it is for

Every line in CUCM has its own forwarding destinations: for all calls, on busy, on no answer and for the case that no device is registered. Internal and external can be set separately. EasyUC shows these values in the user profile directly at the number and lets you change the destinations without opening CUCM.

For a forward to work, each variant needs a Calling Search Space in CUCM. If it is missing, EasyUC locks the destination field and offers to take the CSS from the settings of the location. You maintain this default once per location.

For forwarding all calls there is also a schedule: EasyUC enters a different destination per weekday and period. The Forwarders card shows the opposite direction, that is, who forwards to a number of the user.

Prerequisites

  • License module cucm and an active CUCM connection.
  • Role ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE_ASSOC_LINE for the number list and the Forwarders card.
  • For Settings the account must not be read-only (ROLE_APP_READ_ONLY without an administrator role hides the button).
  • At the location of the number, the Calling Search Spaces are set under Call Forwarding CSS Settings, or the line already has them in CUCM.
  • For the Voicemail or switch: The voicemail number is stored at the CUCM connection.

Step by step: View and change forwarding

  1. Open EasyUC Cisco → Users → Users and then the profile of the user.
  2. Switch to the Phones & Phone numbers tab and find the number in Enduser Associated Lines.
  3. Click Call forwarding at the number. The list shows the destination, Voicemail, Off or Unknown for each variant, along with the wait time and the CSS.
  4. Click Settings. The Change Call Forward Settings dialog opens.
  5. In the Forward All row, enter the destination or clear the field to switch the forward off.
  6. Switch on Voicemail or if the destination is to be the voicemail. EasyUC then enters the voicemail number of the CUCM connection.
  7. If required, maintain Forward Busy Internal, Forward Busy External, Forward No Answer Internal, Forward No Answer External as well as Forward Unregistered Internal and Forward Unregistered External.
  8. If a row shows “CSS is not set for this option”, click [set from location]. The destination field is then available.
  9. Under Forward No Answer Timer, enter the number of seconds without an answer after which the call is forwarded. The CUCM default value is shown below it.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Click Refresh at the number to read the saved values from CUCM again.

Step by step: Schedule for “Forward All”

  1. Open the Change Call Forward Settings dialog as described above.
  2. In the Forward All row, click Schedule. The Call Forward All Schedule dialog opens.
  3. Select the weekdays in the selection field. A separate block appears for each day.
  4. Select the Timezone in the block.
  5. Under Periods, click Add and enter Destination, Start and End. The times are available in steps of 15 minutes, plus 23:59.
  6. Add further periods or days. Use remove to delete a period or a day.
  7. Click Save. The Change Call Forward Settings dialog then shows “Schedule is set” and the destination field of the row is locked.
  8. To remove the schedule, click the trash icon next to the note and confirm the prompt.

Step by step: Set CSS defaults at the location

  1. Open EasyUC Cisco → Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → Locations.
  2. Click Edit at the location.
  3. Find the Call Forwarding CSS Settings section.
  4. Select the Calling Search Space under Forward All.
  5. Click [use for all] to apply the same CSS to all variants, or [use for unselected] to fill only empty fields.
  6. Save the location. The default is then available in the user profile through [set from location].

Voicemail orSwitch per row. Sets the destination to the voicemail number of the CUCM connection. Only active when a CSS is set for the row and a voicemail number is stored.
Forward No Answer TimerNo-answer timer of the line. The value applies to internal and external. Without a specific value, EasyUC enters the CUCM default.

Call Forwarding CSS SettingsLocation default with seven fields: Forward All, Forward Busy Internal/External, Forward No Answer Internal/External, Forward Unregistered Internal/External.
ForwardersCard on the User details tab. For a number of the user, it shows which other numbers forward to it, with the columns Endusers and Forward From. You select the number at the top right of the card.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • After saving, the overview at the number shows the new destination. A test call from an internal and from an external number confirms both variants.
  • “Forwarding could not be loaded. Please refresh.” The query to CUCM failed. Click Refresh and, if it happens again, check the CUCM connection.
  • Destination field locked with “CSS is not set for this option” and without a link: The CSS for this variant is missing at the location. Enter it at the location.
  • Voicemail or switch locked: The CSS of the row or the voicemail number of the CUCM connection is missing.
  • “Voicemail status unknown”: CUCM did not report whether the forward points to voicemail. The destination itself is set.
  • The forward has no effect although it is saved: The CSS of the variant does not reach the destination. Check the partition and the CSS of the destination in CUCM.
  • The Forwarders card shows only Load data: Automatic loading is switched off at the CUCM connection. Click Load data.
