EasyUC for Cisco

Remote control: several phones at once

Watch, operate and dial from up to 10 phones side by side.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Devices → Remote Control

What it is for

The Remote control page shows the screens of up to 10 Cisco phones side by side. It is suited to acceptance tests, training and troubleshooting when several phones need to be watched at the same time, for example both sides of a test call.

Each tile is a phone control session. For this, EasyUC enables web access on the phone, associates the device with the application user of the phone control and fetches the screen through the phone's web server. When you remove a tile or leave the page, EasyUC ends the sessions and removes the association again.

Show phone opens a single phone in a large view with drawn keys and a dial field. The dialog uses the same session as the tile. A second consent on the phone is not required.

Prerequisites

  • License module cucm.
  • Role ROLE_APP_UPDATE_DEVICE. Without it the page shows You are not allowed to remote control this phone.
  • Phone Control is enabled on the active CUCM connection. Only then does the menu item Remote Control appear. If the page is opened directly without this setting, it reports Phone control is not enabled for this CUCM connection.
  • The phones are registered and belong to the Cisco 7xxx, 8xxx or 98xx series.
  • The EasyUC appliance reaches the phones on the network via HTTP. If Request consent on the phone is switched on, the phone must also reach the appliance via HTTP.

Step by step: select and watch phones

  1. Open EasyUC Cisco → Devices → Remote Control.
  2. Use the buttons Name, Description or Number to choose what is searched.
  3. Click in the field Search and select phones (up to 10) … and type the search term. Each search returns up to 10 hits.
  4. Select the phones from the list. A green dot marks registered devices. Devices that cannot be controlled are grayed out and state the reason.
  5. Each selected phone appears as a tile. It first shows Loading phone …, then Preparing the phone …, then the screen.
  6. If the connection requires consent, the tile shows Consent on the phone required. Click Connect or, at the top, Connect all. The user confirms the prompt on the phone. The tile counts down the waiting time.
  7. Watch the screens. The tiles load a new image about every 5 seconds.
  8. Remove a phone with Remove on the tile or with the × in the selection field.

Step by step: operate a phone and dial

  1. On the tile, click Show phone. The button is active as soon as the tile shows the screen.
  2. The Phone Control dialog shows the phone as a drawing. Click line keys, softkeys, digits or navigation keys to press them on the phone.
  3. For a call, enter the number in Number to Dial and click Call or press the Enter key.
  4. With Enlarge screen you see only the display with line keys and softkeys. Whole phone switches back. The browser remembers the setting.
  5. Close the dialog with Close. The tile keeps running. Only one phone can be open in the large view at a time.

  • The phone cannot be reached (check IP address, network, web access). or No connection to the phone.: check routing and firewall between the appliance and the phone network.
