Requesting, verifying and installing a license

Generate a license request, verify the license file received before applying it, and install it.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → System & Operations → License

What it is for

The license is a signed file. It defines for which company the installation is licensed, from when until when it is valid, how many ports are allowed and which scopes are enabled: Provisioning, Enduser and Phonebook. The license is checked locally and needs no internet connection.

The page has three tasks. It shows the current license status. It generates a license request file that you send to the vendor. And it accepts the license file received, shows its content for checking and installs it only after your confirmation.

What the interface offers depends on the scopes. Without Provisioning, for example, most actions on the CUCM connection are missing; without Enduser, the switch for two-factor sign-in is missing.

Prerequisites

  • An account with the access type Administrator (full access) (ROLE_APP_ADMIN) or the owner account (ROLE_OWNER). Only these accounts see the Administration menu.
  • For the installation: the license file that the vendor issued for exactly this installation.
  • A way to transmit the license request file to the vendor.

Step by step: requesting a license

  1. Open the EasyUC Cisco workspace.
  2. Select Administration → System & Operations → License. The page is called Manage License.
  3. In the card Request License, click Get License Request.
  4. The browser downloads the file license_request.file.
  5. Send this file unchanged to the vendor and state the scopes you want and the number of ports.

Step by step: verifying and installing a license

  1. Open Administration → System & Operations → License.
  2. In the card Install License, select the license file received with the file field.
  3. Click Verify License. EasyUC reads the file and shows the License Information without changing anything.
  4. Compare Company, Contact Person, License started on, License expire on, Ports, Port Type and the row Licenses with your order.
  5. Below the license information, click Install License.
  6. Check in the left card that the company, expiry date and ports correspond to the new status.
  7. If menus or the header still show the old status, sign out and sign in again.

Checking the result and narrowing down errors

  • Success: message Success after the installation, the left card shows the new values, and the header shows the license type.
  • After Verify License, an error message appears instead of license information: the file is damaged, not issued for this installation, or not a license file. Request the file with a new license request.
  • Header License will expire in: <number> days: the note appears from five days before expiry. Request a new license in good time.
  • Note License expired or invalid license: install a valid license file.
  • Note Number of ports exceeded, please contact us for a new license: the usage is above the licensed number of ports. Reduce the inventory or extend the license.
  • Missing menu items are not always related to the license. Also check the access type, individual permissions and the active modules of the installation.
