Administration

End-user password and PIN defaults

Enables the buttons for generating passwords and PINs and defines their length and character set.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Administration → System & Operations → System Configuration → Enduser Password/PIN Settings

What it is for

When a user or a voicemail box is created, a password and a PIN have to be assigned. With this setting, EasyUC shows the buttons Generate Password and Generate PIN next to the input fields. One click fills the field with a random value of the length defined here.

The defaults control only the generation in the interface. They change neither existing credentials nor the credential policy in the CUCM or in Unity Connection. If the CUCM requires more characters than set here, it rejects the generated password.

Prerequisites

  • Role ROLE_APP_ADMIN. The interface shows the Administration menu only with this role. Individual permission according to the permission catalog: ROLE_APP_UPDATE_ENDUSER_PASSWORD_SETTINGS.
  • The cucm module is enabled. Without this module the interface locks the page.
  • The minimum lengths of the credential policies in the CUCM and in Unity Connection are known.

Step by step

  1. Select the EasyUC Cisco workspace in the header.
  2. Open Administration → System & Operations → System Configuration → Enduser Password/PIN Settings.
  3. Tick Enable. The remaining fields appear only then.
  4. Enter Enduser Password Length and Enduser Voicemail Password Length.
  5. If required, set Use special characters when generating password and Use numbers when generating password.
  6. Enter Enduser PIN Length and Enduser Voicemail PIN Length.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Open a form for creating a user and click Generate Password next to the password field. Check the length and characters of the value.

Checking the result and narrowing down errors

  • In the creation forms, the buttons Generate Password and Generate PIN appear next to the password and PIN fields.
  • EasyUC rejects a length outside the limits when saving. The message is shown at the affected field.
  • The CUCM rejects a generated password: the credential policy requires more characters or other character classes. Adjust the length and options.
  • Existing passwords and PINs remain unchanged. The defaults apply only to newly generated values.
  • The four length fields carry the same English labels in the German interface.
