EasyUC for Cisco

Manage phone numbers in the user profile

View, name, authorise, change and delete the numbers of a user.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → Users → Users → User profile → Phones & Phone numbers → Enduser Associated Lines

Images come from the EasyUC lab. Names and example values provide orientation. A different interface language is indicated beside the relevant image.

What it is for

The Enduser Associated Lines card lists all lines (directory numbers) that belong to a user. For each number you see partition, alerting name, calling search space, location, and on which phones and keys the number is placed.

From here you change the attributes that are attached to the line in the CUCM: display names, call permission, the number itself and the external phone number mask. You can delete a number that is no longer on any device.

You do not change the assignment of a number to a key here, but in the key layout of the phone.

Prerequisites

  • Licence module cucm and an active CUCM connection.
  • Role ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE_ASSOC_LINE for the card. The Phones & Phone numbers tab appears with this role or with ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE_DEVICE, ROLE_APP_VIEW_ENDUSER_PROFILE_DP_LOGIN or ROLE_APP_VIEW_TRANS_PATTERN_PAGE.
  • For changes the account must not be read-only. With ROLE_APP_READ_ONLY without an administrator role, EasyUC hides all actions on the number.
  • The user has a phone number or a phone with a line. Otherwise the card shows “No data to display”.
  • For Permission: call permissions (CSS) are stored at the location of the number.

Step by step: check the numbers of a user

  1. Open EasyUC Cisco → Users → Users.
  2. Open the profile of the user.
  3. Switch to the Phones & Phone numbers tab.
  4. Find the Enduser Associated Lines card. The list shows ten numbers per page and the total number at the bottom.
  5. For each number, read Alerting Name, Css Permissions, Location and On phones. An entry such as L1 · Cisco 8851 · SEP… means line 1 on this phone.
  6. Click a device entry under On phones to open the phone. Entries outside your locations cannot be clicked.
  7. Expand Call forwarding to see the current forwardings of the number.

Step by step: change names, permission, number and mask

  1. Click Namings on the number. Enter Name and Description.
  2. Leave the switch Apply the Naming for all Line Devices too on if caller ID and line text are to be the same on all devices. Switch it off to set Caller Id and Line Text Label individually per device. Confirm with Save.
  3. Click Permission. Under CSS Name, select the call permission from the defaults of the location and click Save.
  4. Click Update Pattern. Enter the new number or fetch the next free number with Get Free phone number.
  5. If a voicemail box is attached to the number, the dialog shows a note. Tick Should EasyUC also update the voicemail extension? if the voicemail number is to be changed as well. Click Save.
  6. Click Update External Phone Number Mask. Enter the mask, for example +4930123456XX.
  7. Leave Apply the External Phone Number Mask for all Line Devices on, or set the mask individually per device. Click Save.

Step by step: delete a number

  1. Make sure that the text Not on any phone is shown under On phones. Only then does EasyUC offer Delete.
  2. If the number is still on a phone, first remove it with Phone Buttons Support → Remove.
  3. Click Delete on the number.
  4. Confirm the prompt “Delete number …?” with Yes, delete it.
  5. The list reloads. The total number decreases by one.

Update PatternDialog Update Directory Number with the Directory Number field and the Get Free phone number button.
Update External Phone Number MaskSets the external phone number mask on the line on the devices. It determines the number that is shown to the outside for outgoing calls.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • After Save the dialog closes and the number row shows the new values. With Refresh at the top right of the profile you reload all cards.
  • If a dialog stays open, the message of the CUCM is shown directly at the affected field. A typical case is a number that already exists in the partition.
  • Delete is missing: the number is still on a phone or device profile, or your account is read-only.
  • On phones shows only a loading spinner: the devices of the number are still being read. With a very large number of shared lines this takes a few seconds.
  • “Phones of other users could not be loaded”: EasyUC then shows only the user's own devices. Phones of others with the same number are missing from the display.
  • Note in the Update Directory Number dialog that the attached voicemail extension differs from the phone number: check the voicemail of the user before you change the number.
  • There is no “Telephone Numbers” menu item in 4.8.7. You find the location-wide view of numbers under EasyUC Cisco → Numberplan.
