+E.164 alternate number for lines

Purpose

In the CUCM, a line can carry an alternate number in +E.164 format in addition to its internal number. The CUCM builds it from the extension by means of a mask. The line can then also be reached under the full phone number, internally without a detour through the PSTN and from other clusters over ILS.

If the feature is switched on, EasyUC writes this setting over AXL to every line that it creates or changes on phones, device profiles or analog devices: the mask, advertising over ILS and, if required, the entry in a local route partition.

Saving itself changes nothing in the CUCM. Existing lines receive the alternate number only when EasyUC next edits them.

Prerequisites

• License with the cucm module and the provisioning feature. Without provisioning, the entry is missing from the Actions menu.
• EasyUC account with the ROLE_APP_ADMIN role. Only administrators see the Administration menu.
• The CUCM connection has been created and enabled. For a disabled connection, Actions shows only Enable Connection.
• Extensions and number block match the mask. An X in the mask takes over the digit of the extension at this position.
• For the entry in a local partition, this partition exists in the CUCM and is contained in the calling search spaces from which the number is to be reachable.

Step by step

1. In the header, select the EasyUC Cisco workspace.
2. In the menu, open Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections. The Manage CUCM Connections page lists all connections.
3. In the row of the connection you want, click Actions. The Menu popover opens.
4. Click +E164 Alternate Number. The +E.164 alternate number dialog opens.
5. Switch on Enable. The other fields appear.
6. Under Number Mask, enter the mask, for example +4930123XXXX for four-digit extensions.
7. Switch on Advertise Globally via ILS if the number is to be reported to other clusters over ILS.
8. Switch on the switch in the Add to Local Route Partition area if the number is to be placed in a partition in your own cluster.
9. Then select the partition under Route Partition and switch on Is Urgent if required.
10. Click Save (top right or at the bottom of the dialog). The dialog closes and EasyUC shows a success message (“Success”). Cancel closes the dialog without changes.
11. Create a test phone with a line and check the +E.164 alternate number section on the line in the CUCM.

Fields and options

Check the result and narrow down errors

• Success: A newly created line shows the alternate number with mask, ILS switch and partition in the CUCM.
• Message “Alternate number may contain only digits 0-9 and X, with optional leading +”: The mask contains other characters, for example spaces, or a + in the middle of the value.
• The number cannot be dialed internally: The local partition is missing from the calling search space of the caller.
• Old lines have no alternate number: EasyUC writes it only when the line is next edited.
• An empty Number Mask field is not rejected on saving. Always enter a mask when the feature is switched on.
