EasyUC for Cisco

CURRI overview: name display and call control

What CURRI does in EasyUC, how it connects to the CUCM and where to find phonebook, rules and logs.

EasyUC · Version 4.8.7

In EasyUC: EasyUC Cisco → CURRI

What it is for

CURRI (Cisco Unified Routing Rules Interface) is an interface of the CUCM. Before the CUCM delivers a call, it asks an external service over HTTP what should happen with the call. EasyUC is this service.

EasyUC answers the request in three ways. It returns the name of the caller from the phonebooks so that the phone displays it. It rejects calls from numbers on the blacklist. And it applies rules to called numbers: block, play an announcement or forward.

The CURRI menu contains four pages: Phonebook, Blacklist, CURRI Calls and Curri Logs.

Prerequisites

  • Licence module cucm.
  • A separate permission per page: View Phonebook Page (ROLE_APP_VIEW_CURRI_PHONEBOOK_PAGE), View Blacklist Page (ROLE_APP_VIEW_CURRI_BLACKLIST_PAGE), View Curri Calls Page (ROLE_APP_VIEW_CURRI_CALLS_PAGE), View Curri Logs Page (ROLE_APP_VIEW_CURRI_LOG_PAGE).
  • In the CUCM, an External Call Control Profile that points to EasyUC is created and assigned to the affected patterns or lines.
  • For the name display, phonebooks with sources are set up.

Step by step: Put CURRI into operation

  1. Open Administration → CUCM & Provisioning → CUCM Connections and hover over the entry of the connection in the CURRI column. The tooltip shows the address of the global CURRI interface: http://<Adresse der Appliance>/ipps?cucmConnection=<Kennung>.
  2. In the CUCM, create an External Call Control Profile with this address.
  3. In the CUCM, assign the profile to the translation patterns, route patterns or lines whose calls EasyUC should check.
  4. Set up phonebooks and sources, and define the search order and display format under CURRI Settings.
  5. Make a test call from a number in the phonebook.
  6. Open CURRI → Curri Logs and check the entry with the result Phonebook match.

Step by step: Check contacts in the phonebook

  1. Open CURRI → Phonebook.
  2. Filter in the column headers by last name, first name, company, department, phone number, mobile number, email, city, street or source.
  3. Click a contact to see all fields and the name of the source.

Fields and options

Fields and options
Field / actionMeaning and use
PhonebookAll contacts that are available for the name display, with their source (LDAP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, CUCM or CSV).
Phonebook URLAddress of the phonebook service shown on the Phonebook page, if configured.
BlacklistBlacklist for caller numbers.
CURRI CallsRules for called numbers: block, announcement, forwarding, each with a schedule.
Curri LogsLog of every CURRI decision with result, caller and called number.

Check the result and troubleshoot

  • Every checked call creates an entry under Curri Logs. If the entry is missing, the request does not reach EasyUC: check the profile in the CUCM and the reachability of the appliance.
  • Result Unknown caller: The number is not in any visible phonebook. Check the number format, the source and the assignment of the phonebook.
  • Result Error: EasyUC could not evaluate the request. Check the call flow on the entry.
  • If the displayed name is wrong, check the search order and the display format under CURRI Settings.
