System requirements and installation

What the appliance needs and how to set up EasyUC from the OVA to the licence.

Applies to: EasyUC 4.8.7 Last updated: October 2026

System requirements

For a single VM, these guideline values apply:

Guideline values for a single VM
ResourceGuidelineRecommended
Memory 8 GB 16 GB
vCPU 4 8
Disk 100 GB SSD preferred

The image cache alone takes about 24 GB of disk space.

Environment
AreaRequirement
Hypervisor VMware vSphere/ESXi with the OVA. Proxmox, KVM or Hyper-V via the QCOW2 image or the hypervisor's import.
CUCM Version 11.5 or later
Microsoft Teams Teams Phone licences and Direct Routing as required by Microsoft
Update to 4.8.7 EasyUC 4.8.5 or later, EasyUC Manager 1.15.0 or later, K3s 1.34.0 or later, all nodes amd64
Internet access not needed for installation

Clusters with several nodes

For redundancy we recommend three nodes. How large each node needs to be depends on the number of agents, voice channels and active modules. We size the nodes together with you before you create the VMs.

Note

How a cluster reacts when a node fails and where the limits are is described under Redundancy.

Network and firewall

Which connections to allow between clients, CUCM, Microsoft and the nodes is listed in the Ports and firewall reference. For a cluster, place all nodes in the same network segment.

First installation

New installations still use the OVA. There is no OVA with 4.8.7 yet. After installing, you get to 4.8.7 with the EasyUC update.

To set up the first node:

  1. Import the OVA

Import the OVA into VMware vSphere/ESXi. For Proxmox, KVM or Hyper-V use the QCOW2 image or your hypervisor's import.

  2. Log in on the VM console

Start the VM and log in on the console as user easyuc. A text menu appears. You can also change the IP address and enter your internal NTP servers there if needed.

  3. Initialise K3s

Choose Initialize K3s. The installation runs offline and sets up K3s, Traefik, Longhorn, the operators for MariaDB, Elasticsearch and RabbitMQ, and the EasyUC Manager.

  4. Open the Manager

Open https://<your-host>/manager in a browser. The Manager's initial password is generated randomly for each appliance. Change it after the first login. Until you activate your own certificate, the web interface uses a self-signed certificate.

  5. Upload the licence

Upload the licence file in the EasyUC admin interface at /admin. This is not done in the Manager.

  6. Extend as needed

Add nodes, set up the web certificate and configure backups with a schedule and remote target, see Next steps.

Tip

After the installation, take a VM snapshot and keep the licence file somewhere separate from the system.
