Switching deployment types

Which module combinations are possible, which components then run and what happens when you switch.

Applies to: EasyUC 4.8.7 Last updated: October 2026

Modules

EasyUC has three main modules: cucm, acd and teams. The combination of active modules defines the deployment type, for example CUCM + ACD or Teams + ACD. The core components run in every combination.

Since 4.8.7 there is also Presence Sync (presence). The service synchronises the call status between CUCM and Teams. You switch it on separately in the module selection, in addition to one of the combinations below or on its own. For the Jabber call status it also needs CUCM.

Older installations without a module selection are run by the Manager in legacy mode (shown as “Bestandsmodus”). Once you select modules there, only that selection applies.

Possible combinations

Valid module combinations and their components
Deployment CUCMACDTeams Components in addition to the core
CUCM yes no no curri-api, curri-nest, enduser-api, enduser-ui, jtapi, phonebook, proftpd
CUCM + ACD yes yes no CUCM components and acd-media
CUCM + Teams yes no yes CUCM components, teams-sbc, teams-ps and acd-media (technically required by the SBC, without ACD features)
Teams + ACD no yes yes acd-media, teams-sbc and teams-ps
CUCM + Teams + ACD yes yes yes CUCM components, acd-media, teams-sbc and teams-ps

Core components in every combination: admin-api, admin-ui, admin-workers, websocket and public-api. Details are under Architecture.

Validity rule

Either CUCM is active, or Teams and ACD are active together, or Presence Sync runs on its own without Teams and ACD. ACD on its own or Teams on its own is therefore not possible. The Manager rejects invalid combinations, and so does the resource definition.

Switching the deployment

You change the deployment type in the Manager through the module selection or a preset.

  1. Check that your licence covers the new modules.

  2. Open the module selection in the Manager.

  3. Select the modules or a preset and save.

  4. Wait until the status shows the new modules as active.

Important

When switching, admin-api, admin-workers, websocket and public-api restart briefly. Interfaces and services of disabled modules are no longer available afterwards. Switch outside your main business hours.

What happens internally

  1. The Manager saves the new selection in the EasyUC resource.
  2. Components of newly enabled modules are created: Deployment, Service and Ingress.
  3. Components of disabled modules are removed: Deployment, Service, Ingress and routing.
  4. The module list is written into the application configuration. admin-api, admin-workers, websocket and public-api restart briefly to pick it up.
  5. Once everything is applied, the status shows the active modules.

Which data is kept

Nothing is deleted when you switch. Database, search index and volumes stay in place.

Teams tenant settings remain stored when you switch Teams off, and are available again when you switch it back on.

Licence

Important

The licence must cover the selected modules, because the admin interface uses the module list. You upload the licence in the admin interface, not in the Manager.
